Mayor John Bechtel
jbechtel@cityofwilder.org

Born 1 Feb 37 in West Plains, Missouri, raised in Caldwell, Idaho and have resided in Wilder from August of 1972 until the present. I ran for and was appointed to the City Council in January, 1974. In January 1976, I was elected as Mayor and remained in that position until April of 1982. At that time, I remained out of City Government until approximately 4 years later and again joined the City Council. Over the next 22 years, I spent 13 more years on the Council at different periods of time. In January of 2004, I was elected Mayor for a 4 year term and then re-elected in January of 2008 for this current 4 year term. In those ensuing years, I also served as a Volunteer Fireman and QRU Emergency Medical Technician. I am retired from both of those positions at this time. It is my pleasure and duty to serve the residents of Wilder. I continue to remember that I am a Servant to the People and to always put them first and foremost in what ever I do.
